Wellness Wednesday

World Water Day

Well, well, well…ness Wednesday. Would you look at that *checks watch*, it just so happens that today is WORLD WATER DAY! If there’s anything I love more than supporting and celebrating you through your wellness journey, it’s telling you all about the benefits of drinking water!

How did I even get on this water kick, you might be asking? A long time ago, when I was getting my own wellness back on track, I started researching a handful of what I thought were unrelated health topics, only to learn that they all had adequate hydration as a remedy. So I did a little more digging and found a tidal wave (see what I did there) of information about hydrations and benefits to your body! Let’s dive in (I hope someone else is appreciating these as much as I am).

This Week’s Topic – Water

Fast Fact 1: The recommendations for water are 72-104 oz of water a day for adults, 48 oz for kids. If you’re working out, add 12oz for every 20 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity.

Fast Fact 2: Thirst and hunger signals are gathered by the same part of the brain, hunger signals are often “louder” so we have a tendency to eat when we’re actually thirsty!

Fast fact 3: Benefits of being hydrated include better decision making (maybe all those mc’s with crappy ex boyfriends were just chronically dehydrated), regulated bowel movements, flushed bacteria from intestines, glowing skin, muscle repair, joint lubrication, better sleep, more energy, headache reduction, strong & healthy hair, kidney stone prevention, blood pressure regulation, and weight loss (by boosting your metabolism).

Holy Hydration Batman! That’s a lot of new information! How have you noticed water improving your health?

As always, thank you for holding space for me and we’ll “see” you next time!
