#WellnessWednesday – Alternative movement/ fitness

Hello Friends,

So many things have been happening lately, conversations with clients, friends, coworkers, at church, but this reoccurring theme of movement keeps coming up and I really wanted to bring it to you.

Last week I hurt my foot and wasn’t able to do my morning walks, not wanting to miss out on that gift of time, I had to get creative. I mean, what do you do when you want to move your body but you don’t have a treadmill or an elliptical or a rower or an exercise bike or a fitness app subscription AND it’s raining outside?! Enter…

This Week’s Topic – Alternative Fitness/Movement

Fast Fact 1: Just getting into the physical activity game and not knowing how to start? Try The Burst! Workout from Sean Foy. You can catch his videos on YouTube “Coach Sean Foy”. He talks about jumpstarting your metabolism by doing 10 one-minute exercises.

Fast Fact 2: not being mobile yet needing to move was an uncomfortable feeling, so I ventured into what I called #AdventuresInFootlessFitness, I happened across Caroline Jordan Fitness on YouTube, she has 5+ Playlists of workouts that can be done without equipment, that put zero pressure on your feet, and even some chair workouts (for all the friends with tired knees).

Fast Fact 3: When in doubt, dance it out! Turn on some I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness, Faith by George Michael, or Shout by Otis Day. Get your body moving! Need some more structure, try Zumba or dance fitness.

Did you see a pattern, YouTube has so.many.free.videos. for you to jump start your fitness adventures.

Feeling overwhelmed? Start doing these movement activities at random, build up your time.  Challenge yourself to a “you vs you-off”: do your best, the next time/day/week see if you can do just one more rep.

Often we get analysis paralysis, so many choices then we don’t make one at all.

What called out to you from today’s post? What’s your favorite dance song? You know the one, it turns on and you just cannot help yourself, toes start to tap, shoulders start to shake, and before you know it, you’re dancing!

Thank you for holding space for me here, Friends. “See” you next time!
